Ms. Defonzo’s 5th grade class enjoyed a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade virtual field trip down 34th Avenue in New York City where they watched curbside from the comfort of their classroom. They enjoyed watching a few vintage balloons from the parade’s past and were excited to see modern day balloon favorites Hello Kitty, Goku, soccer players, and of course Santa Clause. The students learned about one of this year’s newest balloons featuring Snoopy as “Beagle Scout” set to make its debut on Thanksgiving Day. Following the parade activity, students then created a special yummy turkey treat made with bits of brownies, candy corn, candy eyes, and frosting. What a delicious way to end the fun and interactive lesson.
